How to Change Your Gmail Notifications
You can choose how Gmail notifies you when you receive new emails. The types of notifications that you can customize depend on your device.

How to Turn Your Gmail Notifications On
Step 1: Check your device notification settings
Important:
To receive Gmail notifications, turn on your device notifications.
Settings can vary by phone or tablet. For more info, contact your device manufacturer.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
- In the top left, tap Menu then Settings and then General Settings.
- Tap "Manage notifications".
- Turn All Gmail notifications on.
Keep scrolling for more info on how to set up specific labels to send notifications to your phone or tablet. We will get there eventually. For now, let's get back to setting up those Gmail notifications from your Avon email address.
Step 2: Check Gmail app notification settings
Important: If you have multiple accounts in your Gmail app, change the app notification settings for each account.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
- At the top left, tap "Menu" then "Settings". Select your account.
- Under 'Notifications', tap "Email notifications". Choose the types of email notifications that you want to receive. Choices usually include:
- All new emails: Receive notifications for every email that you receive. I recommend this setting.
- High priority only: Receive notifications for emails that Gmail identifies as high priority. Note: Your priorities may not match the Gmail priorities!
- None: Turn off notifications for emails that you receive.
Voila! You did it! You should now be getting notifications on your phone or tablet when emails from Avon arrive in your Avon Gmail account.

Still not getting notifications? Some times you need to tweak a few more things. This should only take a minute or two more.
- On the account settings page, scroll down to the 'Data usage' section.
- Next to 'Sync Gmail', tap the box.
How to Change Your Inbox Notification Settings
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
- At the top left, tap "Menu" then "Settings".
- Select your account. Under 'Notifications', tap "Inbox notifications".
- Tap "Sync messages" and then choose from: "None", "Last 30 days" or "All".
- Choose your notification settings for your inbox choose from:
- "Get Label Notifications" > Receive notifications for new emails in your inbox.
- "Notify for every message" > Play a sound or vibrate when each new email arrives.

How to Change Label Notification Settings
Here we are - the fancy footwork section you have been waiting for!
Important: If you organize your emails with labels, you can change your notification settings for those labels. If you don't sync messages under a label, you can't turn on notifications for that label.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
- At the top left, tap "Menu" then "Settings".
- Select your account.
- Under 'Notifications', tap "Manage labels".
- In the list, select a label.
- Tap "Sync messages" and then choose from: "None", "Last 30 days" or "All". I recommend choosing "Last 30 days".
- Choose your notification settings for the label: Label notifications: Receive notifications for new emails in the label. "Notify for every message" "Play a sound or vibrate when each new email arrives".
How to Change Notification Sounds
Have fun with this! Which notification sound will you choose?
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
- At the top left, tap "Menu" and then "Settings".
- Select your account.
- Under 'Notifications', tap "Notification sounds".
- Under 'Email' or 'Chat and spaces', tap "Notification sound", and then "Sound".
- Choose the notification sound that you want to use. Tired of getting notification sounds? To turn off notification sounds, tap "None".
